Gear ReducerGear Reducer for Cooling Towers
XYJ series gear reducers purpose-built for cooling tower fans, with a clear nameplate showing power, speed, and weight, reliable operation, and long life.
The XYJ series gear reducer is a dedicated transmission device developed by LANXUN Technology for cooling tower fans. Using a spiral bevel gear drive, it converts the high-speed, low-torque input of the motor into the low-speed, high-torque output required by the fan, ensuring smooth and efficient fan operation. Every reducer has a complete nameplate that clearly states key parameters such as input power, input speed, output speed, reduction ratio, lubricant grade, and weight. ISO VG220 medium-load industrial gear oil is used for lubrication, and startup protection is required in low-temperature environments. An optional three-parameter (vibration/temperature/oil level) online monitoring probe is available for intelligent operation and maintenance management.
Key Highlights
Complete Nameplate Information
Each reducer nameplate clearly shows power, input/output speed, reduction ratio, lubricant grade, and weight, making installation and maintenance management easy.
Standardized Lubrication (ISO VG220)
ISO VG220 medium-load industrial gear oil is recommended. Oil bath splash lubrication ensures adequate lubrication of the gears and bearings and extends service life.
Professional Installation Requirements
Detailed installation guidance is provided: foundation levelness ≤0.2 mm/m and coupling alignment accuracy ≤0.05 mm ensure smooth transmission.
Low-Temperature Startup Protection
When the ambient temperature is below 5℃, run the unit unloaded for 10-15 minutes first so the lubricant is evenly distributed, avoiding damage to the gears during a cold start.
Optional Three-Parameter Probe
An integrated online monitoring probe for vibration (mm/s), temperature (℃), and oil level can be installed and connected to a DCS for early warning.
Complete Wear-Part List
A full list of wear parts (oil seals, bearings, O-rings, etc.) is provided, making spare-parts procurement convenient and repair/replacement quick.
Working Principle and Structural Features
The following content is excerpted from the Gear Reducer product manual
Working Principle
The XYJ series gear reducer is drive equipment matched to cooling tower fans, with a nameplate listing complete rated values such as power, speed, weight, and lubricant instructions. The range covers models from XYJ10D to XYJ30DB, with unit weights of 70 kg to 240 kg and oil capacities of 5 L to 24 L.
Lubrication is the key to reliable reducer operation. It has four main functions: preventing direct metal contact between gears and within bearings, reducing friction losses, carrying away heat from the gears and bearings, and preventing corrosion. Correct use of lubricant fully realizes the reducer's load capacity, ensures reliable operation, and extends service life.
During operation, the reducer must be inspected for excessively high working temperature, changes in noise, oil leakage at the housing and shaft seals, and correct oil level. If it is to be out of service for a long period, it should be run briefly about once a week and the housing filled with oil to prevent rust.
ISO VG220 Gear Oil
The gearbox uses ISO VG220 lubricant; the domestic brand Sinopec Great Wall L-CKD220 gear oil is recommended. Oil temperature must not exceed 95℃ for mineral oil or 105℃ for synthetic oil; if exceeded, stop the machine and inspect it.
Oil Level Control with Dipstick
Check the oil level strictly with the dipstick; it must not fall below the lower mark, or the upper bearing may run without oil. Too much oil causes overflow, while too little risks gear scuffing.
Scheduled Oil Change
The first oil change is after 100 hours of use and no later than 600 hours; the second is at 3000 operating hours or 12 months; thereafter change the oil every 4000 hours or 12 months, and always use oil of the same grade.
Breather Cap Replacement
After installation, the shipping breather plug must be replaced with a breather cap to keep the internal and external air pressure of the gearbox balanced during operation and prevent oil seepage.
Standardized Wear Parts
Wear parts include gears, output shaft, bearings, oil seals, O-rings, breather plug, dipstick, and couplings. A detailed list is available for easy spare-parts management and maintenance.
Low-Temperature Startup Protection
Do not start when the oil temperature is below -5℃ with synthetic oil or below 0℃ with mineral oil; in low-temperature environments the gear oil must be preheated to above 10℃ before startup.
