Gravity Hydraulic StabilizerGravity Hydraulic Stabilizer for Cooling Tower Systems
Uses a gravity-resistance device to automatically balance the hydraulics of each branch in a cooling tower group, lowering the annual average temperature by 1℃ to 3℃ and improving cooling efficiency.
The gravity hydraulic stabilizer is a patented product developed by LANXUN Technology to solve the hydraulic imbalance in parallel operation of multiple cooling towers. Using the principle of gravity resistance, the device is installed in series on the return water pipe of each branch in a cooling tower group to automatically compensate for the hydraulic differences between branches, ensuring that each cooling tower receives an even circulating water flow. Compared with conventional regulating valve solutions, the gravity hydraulic stabilizer requires no manual commissioning and has no electrical actuators, achieving automatic hydraulic balancing through pure mechanical structure. Measured data shows that after installation, the annual average outlet water temperature of a cooling tower group drops by 1℃ to 3℃, significantly improving cooling efficiency. The device is compact and can be installed directly on a return riser or horizontal pipe section, and it features a lightning-protection design suitable for outdoor cooling tower group systems.
Key Highlights
Automatic Hydraulic Balancing
A purely mechanical gravity-resistance principle automatically compensates the hydraulics of each branch, with no motorized valves, no PLC, and no manual commissioning.
Improved Cooling Efficiency (1-3℃ Lower)
After eliminating hydraulic imbalance, all cooling towers operate at their design flow, lowering the annual average outlet water temperature by 1-3℃ and raising system COP.
High Flow, Low Resistance
Optimized flow-channel design gives a pressure loss of ≤3 kPa at rated flow, without affecting the pump head selection, delivering significant energy savings.
Compact Size, Easy Installation
The compact dimensions allow direct installation on the return water pipe with flange connections, making it easy to retrofit into both new and existing projects with a short modification period.
Lightning Protection Design
The all-metal structure is reliably grounded and needs no external power supply, so there is no risk of lightning damage in outdoor installation, making it suitable for open rooftops.
Durable Material
The main body is made of 304 stainless steel or rubber-lined carbon steel, resisting circulating water corrosion and atmospheric aging, with a design service life of over 20 years.
Working Principle and Structural Features
The following content is excerpted from the Gravity Hydraulic Stabilizer product manual
Working Principle
In a central air-conditioning cooling water system, medium and low loads account for about 85% of the year, and the number of pumps running is far less than at design conditions. This leads to insufficient water flow to the cooling towers and abnormal hydraulic distribution among the towers, so much of the cooling area cannot be used.
The gravity hydraulic stabilizer uses a gravity-resistance device to apply a non-linear resistance to the pipeline: the greater the flow, the greater the counteracting resistance. This brings several branches with differing resistances into balance at the same or nearly the same outlet resistance, achieving automatic hydraulic balancing.
The ingenious internal design keeps the counteracting resistance constant once it reaches a certain value, so the total pipeline resistance hardly increases at high flow. With this product installed, the annual average temperature of the cooling tower system can drop by 1℃–3℃, improving chiller operating efficiency by 5%–10%.
Compact Size and Low Resistance
This new-generation product is more compact, lighter, easier to install, lower in cost, and lower in resistance, and it eliminates the traditional product's tendency to attract lightning at high levels.
Two Installation Types
Two installation arrangements are available: the 90° right-angle L type and the 180° horizontal H type. They are generally used for crossflow cooling towers with side water supply and are simple to install and easy to maintain.
Wide Range of Diameters
Pipe diameters range from DN80 to DN250. The L-type series includes models DN100L, DN125L, DN150L, and DN200L, with unit weights of 25 kg to 52 kg.
Wide Adjustment Range
Flow adjustment range 15%–100% (relative to the cooling tower's design standard flow), resistance adjustment range 0.5–20 kPa, and adjustable resistance differential of 0.2–2 m.
Anti-Corrosion Composite Material
The material combines stainless steel with electrostatically powder-coated carbon steel, balancing corrosion resistance and structural strength, with further improved adaptability to environmental conditions.
For Crossflow Towers
This product is developed for crossflow cooling towers and applies only to crossflow towers. Confirm the on-site tower type before selection; it can be distinguished from a counterflow tower by the air flow direction.
